The Puyallup Takopid Family Medicine (PTFM) is the first osteopathic family medicine residency in the country to have a Native American focus. We are looking for students who have a specific interest in Native American health and wellness, and who recognize that Native Americans are among the many underserved populations in the Pacific Northwest as well as nationally.
Tribal customs and traditional healing practices fit in seamlessly with the osteopathic philosophy and we believe that this will strengthen the resident’s experience here. Our aim is to create a program that integrates conventional medicine with traditional Native American concepts of wellness. The providers we train will be ideally suited to work with the Native American community.
