Additional Information

Why Choose Us?

As a resident, you get the best of both worlds.  You train in an ambulatory care setting for primary care and also gain experience in a larger hospital with unopposed training in family medicine. Our full spectrum Osteopathic Family Medicine Residency is a unique program that integrates conventional medicine and osteopathic principles with traditional Native American concepts of wellness.

Continuity Clinic at PTHA

  • 1st year: 2 half days per week
  • 2nd year: 3 half days per week
  • 3rd year: 4 half days per week

The resident’s continuity clinic is full spectrum family medicine at Takopid Medical Center. Residents have their own panel of patients including OB patients.  PTHA also offers various outpatient rotations within their clinic such as pediatrics, community health, urgent care and behavioral health.

Call Schedule

Call Schedule: Residents will be on call according to the specific rotation. Usually this will be 1:4 on inpatient services and 1:7 phone call on outpatient rotations.

Didactics

One half day each week is designated for residents to participate in didactics. Topics are presented by faculty members, residents and community-based sub-specialists.

OMM Workshops & Clinic

OMM hands-on workshops are conducted monthly. In addition to the workshops, OMM clinic days are held every Wednesday afternoon and are supervised by community OMM specialists. Residents are able to perform OMM daily for continuity of care patients.
